Abstract

This paper investigated the project risk management attributes of
construction professionals with a view to evaluating their ability to
function as project risk managers. The study adopted a survey design
and used a structured questionnaire as an instrument for data collection.
Mean score, one sample t- test and factor analysis were used to analyse
the data. It was revealed that the professionals’ knowledge of and
involvement in risk management is high. The study found that the
domains of skills expected of construction project risk managers are
basic skills in project risk management, organisational, interpersonal
and communication skills. Construction clients should ensure that only
consultants with skills in these areas are engaged in the procurement of
projects.
