Abstract

Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) have emerged as a promising solution to address the challenges of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, dependence on fossil fuels, and environmental impact in the automotive sector. This review paper examines the benefits, challenges, and future directions of HEVs in the context of sustainable transportation. It also discusses the environmental, economic, and social implications of HEVs and identifies potential areas for future research and development. By synthesizing the existing knowledge on HEVs, this paper aims to contribute to the understanding of their role in promoting sustainable transportation and inform stakeholders, policymakers, and researchers about the opportunities and challenges associated with their widespread adoption.
